Henan Xinji Builds First National Large Format Offset Printing Press

Henan Xinji achieved another success on its way to developing its first national large format offset printing press, the XJ6118.  This super folio six-color offset press has been put into operation after passing an inspection by Bengbu Haifeng Printing. Installation and testing of the press was completed in three days.

The ceremony debuting the press was held in Bengbu recently.  Yu Qimao, Head of the National Printing Press Supervision and Inspection Center; Zhang Zhiyuan, Administrative Vice President of the Chinese Printing Press Industry Association and Gui Yuying, Secretary-General of the Chinese Printing Press Industry Association, all attended the ceremony and spoke highly of Henan Xinji’s large format offset printing presses.

Hao Jimin, Henan Xinji GM, Gao Baosong, Henan Xinji Deputy GM and Liu Haifeng, Bengbu Haifeng Printing GM also attended the event and we seen engaging several of the guests in keen conversation. During the ceremony, the latter attested to the benefits of his company’s cooperation with Henan Xinji.  The large format offset printing presses have been beneficial to both companies:  the presses have enhanced Henan Xinji’s reputation and brought Bengbu Haifeng greater efficiency and an improved bottom line.

This is just the latest is a string of feel-good stories emanating from Henan Xinji over recent months. In July 2008, the XJ5118 super folio 5-color offset printing press was set up in Yangzhou after installation and tests were completed in just seven days. In November of the same year, the XJ4118 super folio 4-color offset printing press was set up in Kunming after installation and testing was completed in just five days. In January this year, a Kunming buyer ordered an XJ5118 super folio 5-color offset printing press. Two days later, the installation, testing and approval of the XJ6118 super folio 6-color offset printing press was completed. The experience of these customers proves that large format printing presses provided by Henan Xinji are stable and reliable.  It also shows that the company’s quest to build the first brand for national large format offset printing presses is winning admirers from both the national printing press industry and end-users.

In 2006, Bengbu Haifeng was among the first companies to use large format 4-color printing presses from Henan Xinji to print beer packaging.  Today, the company can produce 100,000 beer boxes a day.  This production gives a significant boost to both efficiency and profits.  The XJ6118 super folio 6-color offset printing press, specially developed by Henan Xinji for printing beer, milk and other beverage packaging allows output to be doubled, and, consequently, the company’s growth to accelerate.

Hundreds of observers representing companies and associations from all over the country witnessed the demonstration of the use of the 6-color large format printing press. The press is quiet, works smoothly and has a speed of nearly 10,000 sheets an hour.  Yu Qimao, and other experts of the printing industry, could not help but be impressed by the press’s performance.

Why are the large format printing presses provided by Henan Xinji attracting so much attention from the domestic printing industry?

First of all, the packaging printing industry has a large requirement for large format printing presses. With the development of the market economy, more and more large-sized packaging cases are in demand, and much higher printing quality is required. Medium format printing presses cannot print such large cases and the print quality of ink printers is not good enough.  Additionally, large format printing presses’ micro flute corrugated paper board can be directly printed onto – negating the need to laminate and match paper boards and improving both productivity and quality greatly.  For these reasons, large format printing presses are attractive to the package printing factories. In overseas markets, large format printing accounts for 10 percent of the whole printing market.  Taking this share into account, the huge market potential for large format printing in domestic market still remains to be developed.

Secondly, Henan Xinji boasts superior technology in terms of large format printing presses. Impression cylinders and transfer drums with diameters of up to 800mm are used in the presses, decreasing deflection of substrates, versatile for both thick paper boards and thin paper sheets.  Paper sheets can also be transferred smoothly and precisely ensuring high print quality. The “seven o’clock” arrangement of the printing cylinders on the presses enables paper sheet transfer after a color print is complete and improves print quality.  Additionally, the press’s design makes it very versatile. All printing cylinders are supported by play-free rolling bearings, technology patented by Henan Xinji.  These ensure an even impression force, smooth rotation and little resistance - ensuring reliability of the printing quality while decreasing power consumption. With patented paper transfer technology and a forced gripper system mounted on the impression cylinder and the transfer drum, improper registration, smearing of the prints and other printing faults are eliminated.

Lastly, more than 60 years of experience in precision machine tool manufacture and processing, together with the ardent pursuit of innovation and improvement have helped Henan Xinji build the first brand of national large format offset printing presses.

All the guests at the ceremony urged Henan Xinji to go further in its quest to provide printing presses with more advanced technologies and make more contributions for the development of the domestic printing and packaging industries.
