hi all
could you help clear up a head scratcher for me...
currently helping to commission a web press(heatset)4/4 (uv )dried after 4th colour printed...
ran a few jobs but solids were unatainable because halftones were way heavy...we ran test plates and had a steady dot gain curve between 30-70%. running 175 lsi
no one`s really done this before so we are kinda working with limited experience..
we came up with a corrective curve and ran more test plates...
the contrasts were better...
my problem seems to be the platemaker still feels that a dot gain of 11% after the corrective curve has been applied is ok,,,
but my solids are still a little light and magenta halftones really strong...
he says that if we printed at the correct % it would look too flat...
i know it would on screen but surely not on the press after printing and Dott gain applied....thanks for taking the time to read this....
any experienced guys and girls out there help
regards
